How do I remove or cancel a friend request I sent to someone?

1. Go to that person's timeline

2. Hover over the Friend Request Sent button at the top of the page

3. Click Cancel Request from the dropdown menu

What is blocking? What happens when I block someone?

Blocking someone limits them from viewing things you share on your timeline. Most ties you currently have with the people you block will be broken (ex: friendship connections). Blocking is reciprocal, so you won’t be able to do things like start a Facebook chat or message with the person, or see things they post on their timeline.

Keep in mind that blocking someone may not prevent all communications or interactions such as in apps or groups and only affects your experience on Facebook, not elsewhere on the web.

Note: Removing a block will not restore the friend connection. If you block a friend and then remove that person from your block list, you'll need to send them a new friend request.

Only send friend requests to people you know in real life, like your friends, family, coworkers, or classmates.

If you’ve met someone that you’d like to connect with on Facebook but you’re not sure that person will remember you, send a message first to re-introduce yourself.
If you’re interested in connecting with someone you don’t know personally (ex: celebrity, athlete, artist), try subscribing to that person instead of sending a friend request. You’ll only see the Subscribe button next to the names of people who allow subscribers.
If you’re trying to make new friends, try connecting with Pages and groups that you’re interested or signing up to play social games.
