Folder Lock is a great application used to protect our secret and confidential data in a folder under the password set by user. This tool is of great use to us but the only thing with this software is that it requires the password while uninstalling.

Most of the Time we use Folder Lock & protects our data or items in it.
But when we forget the password of Folder Lock we are in trouble.
Here I am telling how to uninstall FOLDER LOCK in case u forget ur password.


This feature protects unauthorized uninstalling of the software but this becomes a problem when we don’t remember it. This was the same problem with one of readers who has forgotten his password and wanted to uninstall the folder lock.


Method 1:
•    If your Folder Lock is registered then you can just enter the registration key to override the password and uninstall the tool.


Method 2:
•    Download the any full version copy of the same version you are using, 
     for example Folder lock v5.7.5 or v6.0 etc.
•    Install it again and run after installation.
•    You will be prompt to login using a new folder lock user id and folder lock registration key.
•    Use the following info for that :
         FolderLock User ID: NewSoft15805
         FolderLock Registration Key: 221281703



After you have entered the information above, follow the programs procedures until registration is finish. Start folder lock and when the program asks for the password, use the folder Registration Key stated above.
•    Click “options” and select uninstall.


Method 3:
•    Use the folder lock password cracker from the internet and let it do the rest.

Just follow these steps:

(1)   Click Windows key + Run. Type regedit.Enter key.

(2)   Now go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Now in the right pane

create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives (it is case sensitive).

Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal code) .

Restart the system. Now when you click on My Computer, NO Drives will be displayed (all out).

To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.

(3)   Restart the system.You can now see all the drives again.

It's a good practice to create an image of your hard drive before using it. Especially when you had to build that computer from scratch and spent hours installing the operating system and all of your favorite applications.

As Symantec Ghost becomes more user friendly, people start to recognize this idea. The idea also works well when you need to clean your PC from viruses. In case anything goes wrong with the operating system, you just need to restore the image using the Symantec bootable CD.

However, the problem comes when we deal with the new version of those small laptops: The netbooks! which usually don't come with a built-in CD-ROM drive to bootup the PC.

The most simple solution would be buying an external CD-ROM drive, which costs you money. And in some cases, you just want to bootup the Symantec Ghost.... with whatever available!

The good news: Almost every recent laptop/netbook comes with a card reader, and even if you wasn't lucky enough, your laptop/netbook should have a USB port!

This guide will tell you how to create a bootable SD card or a USB flash drive with Symantec Norton Ghost.

This task can be done with several different versions of Symantec Ghost; however, the steps from this articles are based on Symantec Ghost 14.

REQUIREMENTS?

Symantec Ghost 14 bootable CD.

A PC with bootable CD/DVD drive.

An SD card (either SD or SDHC), or a USB thumb drive. The size can be as minimum as 

1 GB.

You can also pick a large SD card if you want to store your hard drive image to the card 

as well.

An SD slot or a card reader (for SD card) or a USB slot (for thumb drive)

Follow the above steps in order. Use this guide at your own risks.

First, check to make sure your CD/DVD drive is bootable. (See your BIOS manual or PC 

user guide for details since this is out of the scope of this article).

For SD card: Make sure the SD slot or the card reader is available. if it's a card reader, 

connect it to the PC. Also insert the card.

For USB thumb drive: Make sure the drive is inserted into one of the USB slots.

Bootup the computer using the Symantec Ghost CD (Details vary on different 

computers). On Windows XP, during the startup, you should see the prompt "Press any 

key to boot from CD...".

Once the Symantec Recovery startup is complete, you should see the main screen of 

Symantec Ghost 14 Recovery similar to this image:

·  Select "Analyze" from the left menu.

Then click on "Open Command Shell Window". A command prompt window will display.

·  At this command prompt window, type: "diskpart" (one word, without quotes) and hit enter. The prompt now changed to "DISKPART>"

·  Now type "list disk" and hit enter. You should now see a list of all available disks. Base on the size of each disk listed, find the one that matching your SD card (or thumb drive) and note its disk number under "Disk ###". If you don't see your SD card (or flash drive) listed, verify if it is inserted or plugged in (you might need to restart the computer and try again).

·  Type "select disk <n>" (replace <n> with the disk # noted from the previous step) then hit enter.
Important!! Besure to select the correct disk (your SD card or thumb drive) as you will be erasing the drive.
Sample image with a 4-GB SD selected:

·  Create a primary partition for the the disk by executing the following sequence of commands:
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1

·  Set the primary partition active, type: "active" and hit enter

·  Perform a quick format with the following command:
format fs=fat32 quick

·  Then type:
assign
exit

·  Your SD card (or the flash drive) is now bootable and will act similar to a local hard drive. In order to boot this card with Symantect Ghost Recovery, copy all contents from the Symantec Ghost disc to the SD card (or the flash drive). Besure to copy everything including any hidden files/folders.

The SD card or flash drive is now bootable and will boot your laptop/netbook to Symantec Ghost Recovery utilities exactly the same way as of the CD (To boot with the card on your laptop/netbook, don't forget to set your bios to search for the SD card or USB external devices in the boot sequence).

• Right-click on any of the images of the webpage and select View Image Info from the context menu.

• Now you will see a Page Info window listing all media on the page.

• You will see that the info of that image which you have selected will be highlighted. You can block that image using Block images from option on the page.

 

Browse through the media listings and check if the images do not get loaded from another hosting site. Once it is done, close the window and reload the page. The page will load properly without displaying images. If you want to access a site’s content without having the images to load, you can use this feature method

•    However to solve this just make sure that you have turned this option off in the web browser.
•    Open the Internet Explorer and go to Internet Properties.

•    Click the General tab.
•    Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files.

If you like downloading images from a web page then you must know how much irritating it is to download all the images of a webpage one by one. To download images what you do is right click on it and select the option of “Save Image as…” or Drag the image to the location or Copy image address & paste it to the downoader you have. But it would become a tedious job if you want to save all the images of the web page at  once.

Well if you are a Firefox user then you can do it easily by one firefox add-on called “Image Picker”. This extension will let you save either single images or multiple images at once.

What you need to do is just integrate this add-on with your browser, right click anywhere on the webpage having images to be downloaded and select the Pick Images option from the context menu. This will open the dialog box having all the images selected, either browse through and select your favourite images or click the save button to save all the images together.

Using the filter in this add-on you can also get the images listed according to the filter specified by you like that of size or the file type jpg, png etc. The extension creates a folder itself and saves all the images there.

How Chrome.exe virus affects
The worm is found to spread itself through online messengers and internet. It also emails some link to all the people in the contact list asking to click on the link thereby downloading the worm.
It also downloads other malware and it will also attempt to propagate via the means of creating copies of itself onto removable devices such as USB flash and hard drives.
Solution:
(1)       The first try to remove the virus is to perform a System Restore as this can work if your restore files are not yet infected
(2)       Now if the first step doesn’t work, uninstall the chrome browser from the system and follow the steps below.
(3)       Boot the system in safe mode, kill the task of chrome.exe (if any) from the task manager and remove the chrome.exe (if any) from the startup list which you can see by typing msconfig in the Run box.
(4)       Now search for chrome.exe file in the Windows drive and delete any file found. We expect the file to be located at following locations.
C:\Windows\chrome.exe
C:\Windows\system32\chrome.exe
(5)       Open registry editor (by typing regedit in Run box) and navigate to the following location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Ensure that the value of Shell key on right side is none other than Explorer.exe
(6)       Search for Chrome entry in the registry editor and delete if you find any.
Reboot to boot the system in normal mode. This should remove the virus for you.

We like plugging our pen drives, flash drives and other external devices in USB ports but there is a strange problem that happens sometimes that when we insert our USB drive into the USB port we get an error message saying “USB Drive Not Recognized”.

The error message says  “One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message”. If we open the My Computer we will notice that even our drive has not been detected.
Solution for this problem:
1.    The solution is just to “Turn off the computer and unplug it from the power supply” (Unplugging is necessary as today even after turning the system off, the motherboard continues to get power).
2.    Let the system remain off for about a minute.
3.    Restart the system and wait for it to boot completely before inserting the drive again again.
Update:
You can try this solution also. Run devmgmt.msc in the run command. then click on My Computer in the Device Manager. Assuming that the USB is in inserted state, click on Scan for Hardware changes under the Action menu. USB should be detected now.

1. Use Robocopy as a Backup Solution

Thanks to the robocopy command, you don't need to use Window's backup software or install a third party program to manage your backups.

Just execute robocopy c:\users\tim\documents f:\backup\documents /copyall /e /r:0 /dcopy:t /mir, obviously replacing the source and destination folders with whatever you'd like to backup and where. The robocopy command with these options functions identically to an incremental backup software tool, keeping both locations in sync.

You don't have the robocopy command if you're using Windows XP or earlier. However, you do have the xcopy command, which can be used to do something very similar: xcopy c:\users\tim\documents f:\backup\documents /c /d /e /h /i /k /q /r /s /x /y.

I've chosen to use the robocopy command on my personal computers as my only local backup solution because I like the level of control it gives me. Hopefully you take that as a vote of confidence in this incredibly useful Command Prompt trick.

2. View Your Computer's Important Network Information

Maybe just for your own information, but certainly when you're troubleshooting a network or Internet problem, you'll probably at some point need to know details about your computer's network connection.

Everything you'd want to know about your network connection is available somewhere in the Control Panel in Windows, but it's much easier to find, and much better organized, in the results from the ipconfig command.

Open Command Prompt and execute ipconfig /all. What displays on screen next is everything important about your network connection: your IP address, hostname, DHCP server, DNS information, and much, much more.

3. Map a Local Folder Just Like a Network Drive

The net use command is used to assign shared drives on a network to your own computer as a drive letter, but did you know there's another command that can be used to do the same thing to any folder on any of your local hard drives?

There is and it's called the subst command. Just execute the subst command, followed by the path of the folder you wish to appear as a drive. For example, let's say you want your C:\Windows\Fonts folder to appear as the Q: drive. Just execute subst q: c:\windows\fonts and you're set!

This Command Prompt trick makes accessing a particular location from the Command Prompt much easier.

4. Access Previously Used Command with the Arrow Keys

Another great Command Prompt trick has to be the use of the keyboard arrow keys to cycle through previously executed commands. The up and down arrow keys cycle through the commands you've entered and the right arrow automatically enters, character by character, the last command you executed.

This might not sound that interesting, but there are several situations where the arrow keys become huge time savers.

Consider this example: You've typed out 75 characters of a command and then try to execute it, only to find that you forgot to add an option at the very end. No problem, just hit the up arrow and the entire command is automatically entered in the Command Prompt window, ready for you to edit to make it work.

5. Automatically Complete Commands with Tab Completion

Tab completion is another Command Prompt trick that can save you lots of time, especially if your command has a file or folder name in it that you're not completely sure of.

To use tab completion in the Command Prompt, just enter the command and then the portion of the path that you do know, if at all. Then press the tab key over and over to cycle through all of the available possibilities.

For example, let's say you want to change directories to some folder in theWindows directory but you're not sure what it's named. Type cd c:\windows\ and then press tab until you see the folder you're looking for. The results cycle or you can use Shift+Tab to step through the results in reverse.

6. Find a Website's IP Address

Like to know the IP address of a website? There are a few different commands you can use to find it.

Let's use the nslookup command to find the IP address of About.com. Just execute nslookup about.com and view the result. Make sure you don't confuse any private IP addresses that also show up in the nslookup results alongside About.com's public IP address.

Another way to find a site's IP address is to use the ping command. Execute ping about.com and then look at the IP address between the brackets in the results shown.

Using either Command Prompt trick, the result is 207.241.148.80.

7. Copy & Paste Easier with QuickEdit Mode

How about an even easier way to copy from the Command Prompt? And a secret way to easily paste?

Just right-click on the Command Prompt title bar and select Properties. On the Options tab, in the Edit Options section, check the QuickEdit Modebox and then click OK.

8. Watch Star Wars Episode

Just open Command Prompt and execute telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl. The movie will start immediately. This isn't a terribly productive use of the Command Prompt, nor is it really a trick of the Command Prompt or any command.
